HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The error msg displayed when attempting to print after not using the printer for 3 months. I removed the cartridges and cleaned each print nozzle with alcohol. Perhaps it was a "no-no," but I also use alcohol on a swab to clean the piece that inserts into each nozzle. The error msg persisted. I replaced each cartridge with brand new ones. The error msg persisted. I've turned the printer off and back on and even recycled power to no avail.  Any suggestions?

Hi @DaveR51,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already tried several troubleshooting steps to address the missing or failed printhead error on your HP Officejet 6600 printer.

Here are a few additional steps you can try:

  • Reset the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes a reset can resolve temporary issues.
  • Check for firmware updates: Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes firmware updates include bug fixes that can resolve issues like this.
  • Inspect the printhead contacts: Make sure the printhead contacts inside the printer are clean and free of any debris or ink buildup. You can gently clean them with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dampened with distilled water.
  • Perform a printhead cleaning: Most printers have a printhead cleaning utility in the settings menu. Try running the printhead cleaning cycle a few times to see if it helps clear any clogs or issues with the printhead.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
