Hi @Paradisepainter,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 8030 printer is not printing pictures in color, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that your color ink cartridges have sufficient ink. Low or empty cartridges can result in black-and-white printing. You can check the ink levels through the printer software or on the printer display (if available).
  • Printer Settings: Verify that the printer settings are configured to print in color. When you initiate the print job, go to the print settings on your computer and confirm that the color option is selected.
  • Color Mode: Ensure that the picture you are trying to print is in color. Some pictures may be saved or scanned in grayscale or black and white, causing the printer to print them accordingly.
  • Printer Driver: Make sure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Outdated or incompatible drivers can lead to printing issues.
  • Print Preview: Before sending the print job, use the print preview option to check if the image appears in color. This can help you identify whether the issue lies with the printer or the file itself.
  • Color Management: Check the color management settings in both your printer software and the application you are printing from. Make sure they are set to allow color printing.
  • Test Page: Print a test page from the printer itself. Most printers have a test page option in their settings. If the test page is in color, the issue may be related to the file or software you are using.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. HP releases firmware updates to address bugs and improve performance.
  • Use Original Cartridges: If you are using third-party or refilled cartridges, try using original HP ink cartridges. Non-HP cartridges may not be recognized or may cause printing issues.

By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue causing your HP 8030 printer to print pictures in black and white instead of color.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
