My HP 2755e is printing very light.  I have installed new ink cartridges and run multiple clean printhead tests.  No luck.

Hi @Bigred321

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 2755e printer is printing very light even after replacing the ink cartridges and running multiple printhead cleanings, there are a few other steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you address this problem:

1. Check the Ink Cartridges

Even if you've installed new ink cartridges, sometimes the issue could still be related to them.

Make sure the cartridges are properly installed: Double-check that the ink cartridges are seated correctly in the printer and have been installed in the right slots (color in the color slot and black in the black slot).

Remove the cartridges and check for protective tape: New cartridges come with protective tape or plastic covers on the printhead or contacts. Ensure that you've removed any protective tape from the new cartridges before installing them.

Check the ink levels: Sometimes, the ink cartridge may be defective or have an issue that is preventing it from dispensing enough ink. Use the HP Smart app to check the ink levels to make sure the cartridges are full. Even new cartridges can occasionally have problems.

2. Clean the Printhead

While you’ve run the clean printhead tests, the cleaning may not have been sufficient, especially if there’s a significant ink clog or if the printer has been used infrequently.

Run the printhead cleaning cycle again: It may take multiple cycles to completely clean the printhead. To do this:

  • Open the HP Smart app or the Printer Settings on your computer.
  • Go to Printer Maintenance or Tools.
  • Select Clean Printhead and follow the prompts.

Manual Printhead Cleaning (if necessary):

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Carefully remove the ink cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth or paper towel and lightly dampen it with warm water.
  • Gently wipe the printhead contacts and the area around the cartridges.
  • Let the printhead dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.

3. Check Printer Settings

Make sure the printer settings aren't set to print in a way that results in light prints.

Open the print dialog on your computer (File > Print).

Make sure that the print quality is set to Normal or Best, not Draft or Economy, as these modes print lighter to conserve ink.

For example:

  • In Windows, click on Printer Properties or Preferences after selecting your printer. Look for a Quality or Ink Usage setting and make sure it is set to Normal or Best.
  • In MacOS, go to Printer Settings and adjust the Print Quality to High.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
