I'm an Instant Ink user.

I came back from holiday and wanted to print something: there was no black printing, only color. It was not a poor printing, but no black printing at all, even when making a photocopy with no involvement of a computer.

When launching a print test, same result : no black (at all).

I cleaned the print heads. No change.

I replaced both cartridges (with the Instant Ink ones I had in stock. The ones in the printer were still the ones from it original packaging): still no change (and I did remove the protecting cello tape before installing them).

Even the sheet printed for the alignment procedure was free of any black printing (I wonder how the printer got able to adjust any kind of alignment in such conditions).

Yet, diagnostics say everything is okay.

Ink levels are at the maximum for both cartridges (It's not a surprise, I just installed them).

I turned off and on the printed several times. Even unplugged it to be sure it was wholly reset...

Nothing better.

The fact is that the printer acts as if it did no want to print anything with the black cartridge, even with a brand new one (and these cartridges include the print head).

What's going on?
