I have an HP Deskjet 2755e, and like every other time this kind of question has been asked here, you (HP) always copy and past the same steps to a solution. THEY DO NOT WORK.

I am beginning to believe this is just HP's way of getting us to use up more ink, as it burns through my paper and ink at an incredible rate.

So to be clear, here is what I have tired:

  • Run the scan and complete the alignment, at least 35 times now. Makes no difference.
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges, cleaning the contacts. Makes no difference (as expected)
  • Not being the idiots you believe we all are, I went ahead and doubled checked that I have the knowledge on how to place a piece of paper on the glass scanner, correct side down, and oriented as shown in the printed directions on the printed page, and the indicators on the top of the scanner. (I really wish you would stop blaming the consumer for making stupid mistakes all the time and take some ownership of what is obviously a technical issue.) Made no difference.
  • Cleaned, for the 35th time, the scanner glass (because I am waiting for you to blame that as well.)  No difference
  • Verifying if my paper quality is good: yep, it is heavy enough, clean, and bright white. (Seriously, you believe us idiots will use some kind of colored or damaged paper?) Has this ever been the issue?
  • One of your suggestions in other posts  was to reset the alignment data by " Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord, wait for about 60 seconds, reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer." Are you telling me that turning off the printer over night is enough to reset this data? Seriously, I cannot turn off my printer? You are also saying that if we have a power failure longer then 60 seconds, the printer will go into alignment again?  That is a pathetic design! There have been non volatile memory solutions since the 1970's. Please tell me this is not true.
  • You also suggested to uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers! Seriously, how is my computer effecting the startup sequence of the printer causing it to initiate an alignment page? Especially when my computers may be off when I turn on the printer! This is about as stupid as asking me to run around the printer three times before turning it on. (Yes, my annoyance level with ridiculous things to do is very high, and it make me very sarcastic.)
  • The same thing for resetting network settings. Please explain how the network setting can cause an alignment page to be printed every time? I am truly curious! File this under ridiculous things to try to fix THIS problem.

So I am asking for a real, non-ridiculous, technical solution to this problem. I am not some idiot user messing up the alignment. I have 5 HP printers here, have owned over 100 in my lifetime, and this is the very first time I have seen this problem with any printer.  Unless I can get a real technical solution (like maybe a small program that can disable that feature, or a way to do that from the menu), my only solution to this will to be to toss this printer into the electronics recycle box, and never to buy another HP printer. To be honest, I am shopping on Amazon right now, because given the solutions in the last 4 times this question was asked, you gave the same answers.

Now please, can you try again with a real solution.  Standing by.

It can't be disabled, every time you turn the printer ON it will proceed with alignment by printing alignment page.

I think I have scared them all away!

Can you take a photo or scan that alignment page and post it here?

Sure. Not sure how seeing the page from my printer will help. This same page is printed by EVERY 2700 series printer on first start up. But here you go.

The scanner is working properly ? Did you try to orient the alignment page opposite of the instructions ?

You are seeing a SCAN of the page by that printer. Does it look like it is not working or oriented incorrectly? (Except I had to make a jpeg to upload here.)  It is not very hard to put a piece of paper with marking showing the correct corner against the edge of the glass with markings showing the correct corner.  That said...

>Did you try to orient the alignment page opposite of the instructions ?

Actually, I tried it both ways several times, assuming that maybe the people at HP made an error with instructions. It errors if the page is in backwards.

I have tried this almost a dozen times now. The scan completes without error, and the printer runs fine. But if I power it off, or the power goes out, when it turns back on, it prints that page again. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THE PRINTER.

What I am looking for is a setting somewhere that will disable this function completely. Im willing to live with a slight alignment issue if it means the printer stops using up ink (printing this page in fine print mode BTW) and wasting paper.

Thanks Valsimot. I am disappointed to hear this.

But now I am convinced this must be HP's way of wasting ink, because it prints that page in fine detail emptying the cyan color very early, meaning I buy more ink more often.

This just became a very good reason to never buy another HP printer. I used to buy only HP, but I am going to go get a Canon or Brother when this is out of ink.  Suggestions anyone? What else do you like?

Thanks for the info.
