Hi @trinibwoy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP ENVY 5055 is having trouble with the black ink cartridge carriage. Here are a few things you can try.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Make sure there's nothing blocking the carriage or the path it moves along. Sometimes paper or other debris can get stuck in the printer and cause issues.

Turn Off and On:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and allow the carriage to move.

Manually Move the Carriage:

  • With the printer turned off and unplugged, gently try to move the carriage to see if you can free it up. Be careful not to use too much force.

Check the Cartridge:

  • Ensure that the black ink cartridge is properly installed and seated. Sometimes, if the cartridge is not aligned correctly, it can prevent the carriage from moving.

Clean the Printer:

  • Dust and debris can sometimes cause issues. Use a soft, dry cloth to gently clean the interior of the printer, including the area around the carriage.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, updates can fix issues like this. You can check the HP website or use the HP Smart app to see if an update is available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
