HP Envy 4522 only printing the top half of the characters of each 3rd line of text. I’ve tried all of the suggested maintenance routines - alignment/head cleaning etc but the problem remains.

Hi @RP216,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like a frustrating issue with your printer. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Check Ink Levels: Make sure that your ink cartridges have enough ink. Low ink levels can sometimes cause printing issues.
  • Clean Print Heads Manually: Sometimes the automatic cleaning routines may not be sufficient. You can try manually cleaning the print heads using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol. Be sure to follow your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this properly.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates can fix bugs or issues that may be causing printing problems.
  • Adjust Print Quality Settings: Experiment with adjusting the print quality settings in your printer's settings menu. Sometimes lowering the print quality slightly can help resolve printing issues.
  • Try Different Paper: If you're using a specific type of paper, try switching to a different type or brand to see if that makes a difference. Sometimes, the paper can affect how the ink is absorbed and how the text is printed.
  • Reset Printer: Try resetting your printer to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues that may be causing the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
