Hello all.  A while ago I was experimenting with my computer's background themes and colors.  I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem, but just FYI.  Yesterday, I tried to print a form, and it came with this pink background.  I have tried everything I know (and more!), but the color remains.  Could this be related with the ink running low? Mine has 1/4 left. Thanks for your help. BG161122

@BG161122, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Pinkish Background Printing on Your HP Envy 5642!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Envy 5642 printer is printing documents with a pinkish background, there are several steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Ink Levels: Even though your ink levels show 1/4 left, the issue might be related to one of the cartridges running low or having an issue, especially the color cartridges. Ensure that the cartridges are not expired or clogged.

Calibrate the Printer: Run the printhead cleaning and alignment utilities. These can usually be found in your printer software or under the printer's settings menu. Calibration helps ensure that the ink is being applied evenly and correctly.

Print a Test Page: Print a print quality diagnostic page to determine if the issue persists across different types of documents. This test will help identify specific issues with color reproduction or alignment.

Check Background Settings: If you recently adjusted the background themes and colors on your computer, verify that these changes have not affected your print settings. Ensure that the software through which you are printing doesn't have unusual settings applied.

Driver Update: Make sure that your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest driver for your printer model.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
