My HP Office Jet Pro 8610's printhead died, and I replaced printer with a HP Office Jet 8015e.

However, I did not discard the HP 8610 -- now I located and purchase a new HP printhead, installed it WITH the setup cartridges supplied.  However, the "old" cartridges in the "old" printhead were placed in service just before the printhead died.  Can I remove them from the dead printhead and place them in my rejuvenated HP 8610 with its new printhead as it is all setup and connected properly?

Yes, once you empty the SETUP inks ( and cartridge) you can install used cartridge from your old printhead.
