Hi @ClaireS02,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The black lines on your photocopies from the HP OfficeJet 4650 are typically caused by one of the following issues.
- Dirt or Ink on the Scanner Glass: If there's dirt, ink, or residue on the scanner glass, it can cause black lines on your photocopies. Clean the scanner glass and the white bar next to it using a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Make sure to dry it completely after cleaning.
- Dirty or Damaged Scanner or Printer Rollers: If the rollers inside the printer are dirty, they can cause issues with paper handling, potentially leading to black lines. Clean the rollers inside the printer carefully with a lint-free cloth.
- Worn or Damaged Ink Cartridges: Sometimes, worn-out or damaged ink cartridges can cause streaks or lines. Check the condition of your ink cartridges. If they’re running low or clogged, replace or clean them as needed.
- Printhead Issues: The printhead might be clogged, leading to uneven ink distribution. Try running a printhead cleaning cycle through the printer’s maintenance options.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
