HP Officejet Pro 8035 will not print blue ink. I have tried 3 different blue cartridges. The black and other colors are okay. The blue is the only one that will not print.

Any suggestions?

Hi @greghilb,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Officejet Pro 8035 is not printing blue ink despite trying multiple cartridges, there are a few potential issues to consider. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure that the blue cartridge is installed correctly.
  • Make sure the protective tape on the cartridge has been removed.

2. Clean the Printhead

  • Using Printer's Software: Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer
  • Go to the printer software on your computer.
  • Look for the option to clean the printhead (usually found under Maintenance or Printer Services).
  • Manually Cleaning the Printhead:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    • Open the printer and locate the printhead.
    • Use a lint-free cloth and distilled water to gently clean the printhead.
    • Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinstalling it.

3. Run a Printhead Alignment

  • Go to the printer software and look for the option to align the printhead.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment process.

4. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Visit the HP support website and ensure your printer’s firmware and drivers are up to date.
  • Download and install any available updates.

5. Check for Clogged Nozzles

  • Print a nozzle check pattern from your printer settings to see if any nozzles are clogged.
  • If the blue color is missing or faint, try running a nozzle cleaning cycle.

6. Inspect the Cartridges and Contacts

  • Remove the blue cartridge and inspect it for any damage or leaks.
  • Check the contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer for any ink buildup or debris.
  • Clean the contacts gently with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.

7. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

8. Perform a Hard Reset

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it on.

9. Check Printer Settings

  • Go to your printer settings on the computer.
  • Ensure that the print settings are not set to grayscale or black and white.
  • Ensure that the paper type and quality settings are appropriate for the type of paper you are using.
