@F102, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're dealing with color mismatches or incorrect color rendering from your HP OfficeJet 4655. There are a few things we can try to troubleshoot and fix the issue. Let’s go through some steps to get it sorted out.
Check the Ink Cartridges
Low or Expired Ink: Ensure that your ink cartridges aren’t low or expired. Sometimes, old or dried-out ink can cause color discrepancies.
Re-seat the Cartridges: Open the printer and take out the ink cartridges. Reinsert them carefully to make sure they’re seated properly.
Run the Printer's Built-in Diagnostics
The printer might have a built-in diagnostic tool to help detect and fix color printing problems.
Open the printer's control panel (on the printer itself).
Look for an option like "Tools" or "Settings" and find the "Print Quality" or "Self-Test" page.
Run the diagnostic test and check if the printer is reporting any issues.
Check Color Settings in macOS
Sometimes, the issue could be with the print settings in macOS itself.
Open the document or photo you're trying to print.
Go to File > Print and click on Show Details (if it’s not already expanded).
In the print dialog, check the Color settings. Ensure that it is set to Color (not Grayscale) and that the right paper type or print quality is selected.
Update Printer Drivers
Sometimes outdated drivers can cause printing issues.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, and select your HP printer.
Click Options & Supplies > Driver tab, and check if any updates are available.
You can also visit HP’s website to download the latest driver for macOS 10.13 High Sierra.
Print Using Different Applications
Try printing from another app (like Preview or Adobe Acrobat) to see if the issue persists across different programs. Sometimes, the issue can be app-specific.
Clean the Print Heads
The print heads might be clogged, especially if you haven’t used the printer in a while.
You can usually find an option in the printer settings (either through macOS or on the printer itself) to clean the print heads. Try running a cleaning cycle.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
