Hi @Robjamesinson,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet 8035 is not printing blue and continues to print lines despite cleaning the printhead, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  • Check Ink Levels and Cartridges: Ensure that the blue (cyan) ink cartridge is installed correctly and has sufficient ink. Sometimes new cartridges can be faulty or improperly installed, so reseating the cartridge might help.
  • Run Print Quality Diagnostic: Use the printer's built-in diagnostic tools to print a quality report or diagnostic page. This can often identify specific issues with the printhead alignment or ink distribution.
  • Clean Printhead Manually (if possible): If your printer allows manual cleaning of the printhead through the settings or control panel, perform this action. Follow the printer's manual for specific instructions on how to clean the printhead manually.
  • Use Automated Cleaning Utility (if available): Some printers have an automated cleaning utility in their software (like HP Smart or HP EasyStart). Run this utility to see if it can resolve the issue by cleaning the printhead more thoroughly than a standard cleaning cycle.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes firmware updates include improvements or fixes related to print quality issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Check for Printhead Alignment: If your printer has an option for printhead alignment, ensure it is properly aligned. Misalignment can cause issues with print quality, including missing or streaky lines.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
