Hi @Unamuno,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Officejet 6700 has stopped printing colors after replacing the black ink cartridge, it could be due to several reasons, including a clogged printhead or issues with the ink cartridges themselves. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check Ink Levels
- Ensure that the color ink cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow) are not empty. Even if they show some ink left, they might be too low to print.
Run a Printhead Cleaning
- From the Printer:
- Go to the printer’s control panel.
- Select Setup (the gear icon) > Tools > Clean Printhead.
- From HP Software:
- Open the HP Printer Assistant on your computer.
- Go to Printer Maintenance and select Clean Printhead.
Print a Test Page
- Print a test page to check if the colors are coming out:
- From the printer’s control panel, select Setup > Reports > Print Quality Report.
Check Print Settings
- Make sure that the printer settings are set to print in color:
- Go to Print in your application and ensure that Color is selected instead of Grayscale.
Inspect the Cartridges
- Remove the color cartridges and check for any protective tape that may not have been removed during installation.
- Reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are seated properly.
Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
Update Drivers
- Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP support website.
Replace the Printhead
- If the printhead is clogged or malfunctioning, you may need to replace it. You can purchase a new printhead from HP or an authorized dealer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
