My Printer Thinks My Ink Cartridge is too old

My 8710 All in One tells me that my new ink cartridge is not supported by this machine.  First, it is the same type of cartridge that I have always bought and am using now and is the recommended cartridge.  Also, the build date on the cartridge is far newer than the machine.  I have installed and removed it a couple of times, hoping that would make a difference, though I think that is the definition of insanity.  I did buy another one, the same type, and it works great.  Anyway, has anybody had this problem?
