My Printer has Printer Failure. It says... There is a problem with the printer or ink system. It recommended that the printer be turned of then on again. This was done several times with no result. The printer still does not work. I have inserted all new HP ink cartidges, but not able to print. What can I do?

Hi @ErrolBennett,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your printer is displaying a "Printer Failure" or "There is a problem with the printer or ink system" error message, and turning it off and on again hasn't resolved the issue, follow these troubleshooting steps to address the problem:
1. Basic Troubleshooting
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
- Turn the printer back on and check if the error message persists.
Check for Physical Obstructions:
- Open the printer’s access door and ensure there are no paper jams, foreign objects, or debris inside the printer.
2. Inspect and Reinstall Ink Cartridges
Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:
- Open the printer access door and carefully remove all ink cartridges.
- Reinstall the cartridges, making sure they are properly seated and secure.
- Close the access door and try printing again.
Check Cartridge Contacts:
- Examine the copper-colored contacts on each cartridge and inside the printer for any obstructions or residue. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth if needed.
3. Clean the Printhead
Automatic Cleaning:
- Use the printer’s built-in printhead cleaning function. Go to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead on the printer’s control panel, if your model supports it.
Manual Cleaning:
- If automatic cleaning doesn’t work, you may need to clean the printhead manually. This involves removing the printhead (if removable) and cleaning it with distilled water or a printhead cleaning solution. Refer to the printer’s manual for specific instructions.
4. Check Printer Firmware
- Update Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer firmware is up-to-date. Visit the HP Support website to check for and install any available firmware updates for your printer model.
5. Perform a Printer Reset
- Factory Reset:
- Perform a factory reset to restore all settings to their default state. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to do this. Typically, you can find the option in the Setup or Tools menu on the printer’s control panel.
6. Check for Error Codes
- Note Any Error Codes:
- If your printer displays an error code or a specific error message, make a note of it. This can help with troubleshooting and finding specific solutions.
7. Verify Printer Settings
- Check Print Settings:
- Make sure the printer settings on your computer are configured correctly. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers (Windows) or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (macOS) and ensure the printer is set as the default printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
