HI @jmiles,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your black ink cartridge is empty on your HP Envy Pro 6455 printer, you can obtain a replacement by following these steps:
1. Determine the Cartridge Model
- Check Cartridge Model:
- Open your printer’s access door to locate the black ink cartridge.
- The cartridge model number should be printed on the cartridge itself. Common models for HP Envy printers are HP 67, HP 64, or similar, depending on the region.
2. Purchase a Replacement Cartridge
Buy from HP or Authorized Retailers:
- You can purchase a replacement cartridge directly from HP’s official store or from authorized retailers like office supply stores, electronics stores, or online marketplaces.
Check HP Instant Ink:
- If you are subscribed to HP Instant Ink, you can order replacements through the HP Instant Ink website or app. HP will often send you cartridges automatically before your current ones run out.
3. Install the New Cartridge
Prepare the New Cartridge:
- Remove the new cartridge from its packaging and gently remove any protective tape or cover.
Install the Cartridge:
- Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
- Remove the empty black ink cartridge by pressing down on it gently and pulling it out of the slot.
- Insert the new cartridge into the slot, making sure it clicks into place.
Close the Access Door:
- Close the cartridge access door and wait for the printer to initialize the new cartridge.
4. Print a Test Page
Check Installation:
- Print a test page or a document to ensure that the new cartridge is installed correctly and the printer is functioning properly.
Align Cartridges (if needed):
- Some printers may prompt you to align the cartridges after installation. Follow the on-screen instructions if prompted.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
