My hpenvy photo 7858

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Envy Photo 7858 not recognizing HP-branded cartridges, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about a minute.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

2. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Double-check that the cartridges are the correct ones for the HP Envy Photo 7858. Sometimes, similar models may use different cartridges.
  • Ensure the cartridges are genuine HP products and not refilled or remanufactured.

3. Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridges carefully.
  • Using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water, gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts in the printer.
  • Let them dry for a few minutes, then reinsert the cartridges.

4. Reinstall the Cartridges

  • Ensure the cartridges are installed correctly by pressing them down until they click into place.

5. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Leave it unplugged for 10-15 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This can help reset internal memory and cartridge recognition.

6. Update the Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates using the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website.

7. Cartridge Warranty and Replacement

  • If you’ve confirmed that the cartridges are genuine and new, but they’re still not recognized, they might be defective. check for warranty coverage or replacement.

8. Try a Different Cartridge

  • If possible, try using another genuine HP cartridge to see if the printer recognizes it. This can help determine if the issue is with the cartridges or the printer.
