It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e is having trouble recognizing the HP 910 XL cartridge. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

 

Ensure Proper Installation:

  • Make sure the cartridge is correctly installed. Remove it and reinstall it, ensuring it clicks into place securely.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridge and gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with water.
  • Allow the cartridge to dry before reinstalling it.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Try printing again to see if the issue is resolved.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Firmware issues can sometimes cause compatibility problems with cartridges. Check for updates through the printer's settings or the HP website.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If possible, try installing a different HP 910 XL cartridge to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the cartridge is defective.

Use HP Genuine Cartridges:

  • Make sure the cartridge you installed is an authentic HP product. Some third-party or refilled cartridges may cause issues with validation.

Check Ink Cartridge Expiry Date:

  • Sometimes, cartridges can have an expiration date. Verify that your HP 910 XL cartridge is not expired.
