Hi @Peggypoo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Deskjet 3722 printer is not recognizing the new black ink cartridge despite trying various recommendations, here are some additional steps you can take.
- Ensure Compatibility: Confirm that the black ink cartridge you purchased is compatible with your HP Deskjet 3722 printer. Check the printer's manual or the official HP website for a list of compatible cartridges.
- Remove and Reinstall: Take out the black ink cartridge from the printer and then reinsert it. Make sure it is securely and properly seated in the cartridge slot.
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab to gently clean the electrical contacts on both the black ink cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the cartridge slot. Ensure there is no debris or ink residue on these contacts.
- Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This process can help reset the printer.
- Update Printer Firmware: Check if there is any available firmware update for your printer on the official HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
- Check for Protective Tape or Covers: Verify that there is no protective tape or covers on the cartridge that you may have overlooked. Some cartridges have protective tabs that need to be removed before installation.
- Try Another Cartridge: If possible, try using another black ink cartridge to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem lies with the cartridge itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
