Good Afternoon. I just installed a brand new HP DeskJet 1000 - J110 Series printer. When I print the test page it comes out in very light blue ink only. Also, when I tried to print a MS Word document, the same thing happened. When I printed the ink alignment page, only a few rows printed and they were all light blue. I need to print in black. Any one know what's up?

Hello @Missionite
Thanks for the update!
Please check http://hp.care/2jcdl7s to make sure you are using the compatible cartridge with this printer.
If you are using a compatible cartridge, then perform a hard reset on the printer & also restart your computer. Follow the steps below:
· Remove the cartridges from the printer.
· With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
· Remove USB cable, if present.
· Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
· Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
· Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle, insert the cartridges and also restart your computer.
If the issue still persists, the issue could be with the printer hardware. You mentioned that this is a new printer, hence it would be under warranty. You can contact the HP phone support for the printer service.
You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂

Dvortex, thank you for responding again so soon. So, I checked the ink type and there may be a problem. The chart on the link you sent shows that the compatible ink is the HP 61 for North America and Asia Pacific. It also says the compatible ink is HP 122 for Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and CIS. When I unboxed the printer, it had the HP 122 inside. The HP 122 were the cartridges that were only printing in light blue. So, I went to STAPLES and bought the HP 61 because that is what their chart said. Does the HP 122 and HP 61 make a difference? I suppose that may be the problem. I did try the hard reset and it is still telling me that the cartridges are incompatible with the current configuration of the printer.

You are most welcome.
Yes, the HP cartridges are region specific. If you are in the US, then you need to use the HP 61 cartridges only. If you move to another country then the printer can be regionalized to that region so that it can accept the cartridges of that region.
I suggest you to reach out to HP phone support to get the cartridges replaced under the warranty. Let me know if you need any further help.
All the best! 🙂
