Hi @Neilly1104

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds frustrating! Blank spots on printouts can be caused by several factors, including low toner levels, dirty printer components, or incorrect print settings.

Let's go through some detailed troubleshooting steps to fix this issue.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for Blank Spots on Printouts

Step 1: Check the Paper Quality

  • Ensure you're using high-quality laser printer paper. Low-quality or damp paper can cause uneven printing.
  • Try printing on a fresh sheet of paper to see if the issue persists.

Step 2: Check Toner Levels

  • Open the HP Smart App or your printer’s control panel to check toner levels.
  • If any toner cartridge is low or empty, replace it with a genuine HP toner cartridge.

Step 3: Inspect the Toner Cartridges and Imaging Drum

  • Open the printer and carefully remove the toner cartridges.
  • Check for leaks, damage, or uneven toner distribution.
  • If the imaging drum is dirty or worn out, it may need cleaning or replacement.

Step 4: Clean the Inside of the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Use a lint-free cloth to gently wipe away dust and toner residue inside the printer.
  • Avoid touching the imaging drum directly, as fingerprints can affect print quality.

Step 5: Run a Cleaning Cycle

  • Some HP printers have a built-in cleaning mode to remove excess toner buildup.
  • Navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Cleaning Mode and run the cleaning cycle.

Step 6: Adjust Print Settings

  • Open Printer Preferences on your computer.
  • Ensure the correct paper type is selected (e.g., plain, glossy, or cardstock).
  • Try increasing the print density or selecting Best Quality mode.

Step 7: Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

Step 8: Perform a Test Print

  • Print a diagnostic page from the printer’s control panel.
  • If blank spots still appear, consider replacing the toner cartridges or imaging drum.
