I received the following error: Indicated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer. I had no prior issue. Matter of fact I just printed something this week but today I am dealing with this error. I purchased replacement cartridges. I also replaced the black cartridge with a brand new cartridge just to see if that would help - nothing. I removed and re-added the cartridges but the issue consists. Help!!!!

Hi @Bee1238,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using the correct cartridges for your HP OfficeJet 3830. The compatible cartridge numbers are HP 63 and HP 63XL for both black and tri-color.
Inspect and Clean Cartridges:
- Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
- Remove the cartridges and check for any protective tape on the nozzles.
- Wipe the copper-colored contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water to remove any dirt or residue.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Reinstall the Cartridges:
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly into the correct slots.
- Close the cartridge access door and check if the error persists.
Check Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. You can download the latest firmware from the HP support website.
Try Another Cartridge: If you have another cartridge available (new or previously working), try installing it to see if the error clears.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Unplug the printer while it is still on.
- Wait for a minute, then plug it back in.
I hope this helps.
