My printer would not print with instant ink cartriages because it always said it was not connected to the Internet (it definitely was). So, I cancelled my instant ink subscription and bought original HP Ink (like $80 btw) and my printer recognizes that it is indeed pure, real HP ink. However, it displays a message saying that I cannot print.
I have restarted, rebooted, reset, updated firmware and checked my hp account like it tells me to do and nothing.
MT serial # is Edited
my product # is 1K7K3A

Hi @mday08,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your printer shows “Cannot print” even after canceling Instant Ink and installing brand-new original HP cartridges. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Check for leftover Instant Ink status on the printer
On the printer’s display, open Setup → Web Services → Print Info Page.
If it still shows “Instant Ink: Enabled/Enrolled,” the printer has not fully unenrolled yet.
Force a Web Services reset
Go to Setup → Web Services → Remove Web Services.
Wait 30 seconds, then turn the printer off and on and re-enable Web Services.
This clears old Instant Ink entitlement data.
Verify that both cartridges are non-Instant Ink
On the printer screen, go to Ink Information and open details for both cartridges.
If either one still shows “Instant Ink,” the printer will block printing completely.
Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi before printing
Even with Instant Ink canceled, the printer must contact HP one last time to confirm that new retail cartridges are authorized.
Run Wireless Setup and confirm the signal bars are full.
Print a “Printer Status Report”
This report shows error codes the display doesn’t.
If you see anything like 0xCxxxxxxx or “Cartridge protection enabled,” it means the printer locked itself to previous cartridges.
Check for “Cartridge Protection”
Open the printer’s Embedded Web Server (type its IP into a browser).
Under Settings → Security, disable Cartridge Protection.
This can stop the printer from accepting cartridges it thinks are bound to another printer.
Run “Restore Factory Defaults” (not Network Reset)
Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults.
This clears Instant Ink configuration left behind in firmware.
Make sure firmware is truly up to date
Some models need two firmware updates: one for Wi-Fi and one for cartridge logic.
After restoring defaults, run Update Firmware again.
Remove and reinstall cartridges firmly
Lift the latch, remove both cartridges, clean the copper contacts with a dry cloth, and reseat them until they click.
A poor connection can trigger the same “cannot print” lockout.
I hope this helps.
