Hi @Lynne707,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Verify Cartridge Compatibility
- Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure that you are using the correct cartridges for your printer. The HP Envy Inspire 7200e typically uses HP 64 or HP 64XL ink cartridges.
2. Inspect Cartridges and Printer Contacts
- Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the ink cartridges.
- Clean Printer Contacts:
- Clean the corresponding contacts inside the printer where the cartridges are inserted.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
3. Reinstall Ink Cartridges
- Proper Cartridge Installation:
- Reinsert the ink cartridges into their respective slots. Ensure they are clicked into place securely.
- Close the ink cartridge access door and reconnect the printer to the power source.
4. Check for Firmware and Software Updates
- Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. Go to the HP website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
- Update Printer Software:
- Make sure you have the latest printer software installed on your computer. You can download the latest software from the HP Support website.
5. Reset the Printer
- Perform a Printer Reset:
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if it detects the ink cartridges.
I hope this helps.
