My printer is barely one year old.  My warranty says it expired on 9/1/20, just a few days' ago.  I have replaced cartridges, I have done all the troubleshooting features, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, and my printer is still not printing full pages of text.  There are lines of text, then blank lines then lines of text, then blank lines.  What could be the problem with this young printer?

@TAT3, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

If the printer was not used for a couple of weeks, the ink could have dried up.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Check the estimated ink levels

Low ink levels can impact print quality. Replace any ink cartridges that are low or empty.

Clean the ink cartridges

  1. On the control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setupicon.

  2. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.

  3. Touch Clean Cartridges, and then touch Continue.

A Print Quality Diagnostic page prints.

  4. Examine the Print Quality Diagnostic page.

    • If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. Repeat these steps for the third cleaning stage, if necessary.

NOTE:  If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Report, and then evaluate the results.

  1. On the control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setupicon.

  2. Swipe up on the display, touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.

  3. Check for any defects.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello:  Thank you for your extensive response and helpful hints; however, all of your suggestions were performed as I originally stated, including uninstalling and installing the software.  The only time we can sometimes get a completely clear printout is when we highlight the text, Ctrl + P (to print), click on Properties, Paper Quality, Best, Color; and even then sometimes there are some spots blank.  I originally had done all the diagnostic tests under Maintenance before sending out this message.  Any other suggestions before I toss this printer into the ocean?  Thanks for your help.  TAT3

@TAT3

If you have the same issue while making a copy and printing test pages, it means this is a hardware issue with the printer as you have already replaced the ink cartridges.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
