Hi @dcento,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 3755 is printing only outlines and light gray shades despite changing the print settings, here are a few troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
Check Ink Cartridges:
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. Low ink or clogged cartridges can cause poor print quality.
- Try replacing the cartridges if they are low on ink or showing signs of damage.
Clean the Printhead:
- A clogged printhead can lead to poor print quality. You can clean the printhead from the printer’s control panel or through the printer’s software on your computer.
- On your printer, go to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead (or similar option).
- If using HP Smart or another app, look for the Clean Printer or Printhead Cleaning option.
Check for Ink Smears or Clogs:
- If the ink is smudging or not printing well, check if the ink cartridges are clean and free from any ink blockages. You can also try cleaning the contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer.
Check Printer Settings:
- Ensure you are printing in the correct color mode and that the correct paper type is selected.
- In the print settings on your computer, make sure Color is selected under the "Color Options" section (not grayscale).
Run a Print Quality Diagnostic:
- HP printers typically have a built-in diagnostic tool to check for print quality issues. You can print a diagnostic page to identify problems with the printhead or ink.
- To print a diagnostic page, hold the Cancel button on the printer for 3-5 seconds (refer to your printer manual for specific instructions).
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupt drivers can affect printing. Make sure your printer drivers are up to date by downloading them from the HP website or updating via the HP Smart app.
- Alternatively, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver on your computer.
If the issue persists after these steps, it could be a hardware problem with the printhead or cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
