My printer keeps printing "smudges" in the corner of the paper and it's random

Hey there! My printer is printing a smudge in the upper left hand corner of the paper when I print stuff. It's sporadic, meaning on one page there will be nothing and the next there will be a smudge (see example attached). Any ideas how to fix this? I've tried some general troubleshooting but could use some input.

Follow these steps to print a cleaning page:

1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch Setup
2. Touch Service, and then touch Cleaning Page.
3. Load plain, white paper when you are prompted.
4. Touch OK to begin the cleaning process.
5. Try to print again to see if the issue is resolved,

How many cleaning pages were printed?

Print the following reports:

1. Supplies status page
2. Diagnostic page

Unfortunately, your image is too bad (dpi too low)!
I suspect the black toner cartridge is causing the problem.
What do the two printouts look like?
