My printer keeps saying there is a problem with the supply system and to replace the black cartridge. I have tried 3 new cartridges, but it's the same error every time

Hi @K_Besa,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've tried multiple new cartridges and you're still encountering the same error message, there could be a few different issues at play. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Clean the contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the cartridge or within the printer can become dirty or obstructed, causing communication errors. Carefully remove the black cartridge and clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol. Be sure to let them dry completely before reinstalling the cartridge.
  • Update printer firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues and improve performance.
  • Reset the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset any internal errors or glitches.
  • Check for obstructions: Inspect the cartridge carriage and the area around it for any obstructions that may be preventing the cartridge from being installed correctly.
  • Perform a power cycle: Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in. Turn the printer back on and check if the error persists.

By systematically going through these steps, you should be able to determine the cause of the error and hopefully resolve it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
