My printer needed a new cartridge and once I installed it I got the Supply System Problem error. I tried a different, new cartridge, but that did not resolve the issue.
Power off/on did not resolve the issue.
Cleaning the print heads did not resolve the issue.
Removing and reinserting the printhead also did not resolve the issue.
Any help is appreciated

@Elfie3000, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Perform a Power Reset
This is more than just turning it off and on.
Turn on the printer if it’s not already on.
With the printer still on, unplug it from the wall and from the back of the printer.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
Plug everything back in and power it on.
Sometimes this clears deeper system faults, including supply system errors.
Clean Electrical Contacts
Even with new cartridges, dust, ink residue, or misalignment can cause this issue.
Remove the cartridges.
Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
Gently clean:
The gold contacts on each cartridge.
The corresponding contacts inside the cartridge carriage.
Let them dry completely (about 5–10 minutes).
Reinsert cartridges firmly and evenly.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
