HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

HP desktop w/Win11 Home....HPENVY 4520 all in one printer. I have had the Win11 PC for a couple years and the printer for about 4 years...never had a problem...all of a sudden I cannot print anything in color from my PC...but I can scan items on the flatbed scanner and send items wirelessly from my iphone and ipad and they are in color. I checked "Printing Properties" in Device Manager....there is no option to select color. Yes I have color set on my printer page.  What can be wrong? Thank you

@wdcon, The error message you are experiencing is indicative of a protection fault within the printer's driver, usually caused by a software conflict or a corrupted driver. Here are steps you can take to resolve this issue and restore color printing functionality from your PC:

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support page and search for your printer model (HP ENVY 4520).
  • Download and install the latest drivers for your printer.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Remove the current printer drivers from your computer.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Install the latest drivers downloaded from the HP website.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Make sure that the color option is enabled in the printer settings.
  • Navigate to the printer properties and preferences to confirm that neither grayscale nor black-and-white printing is enabled.

Printer Troubleshooting:

  • Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, available from the HP website, to identify and fix printer-related issues.
  • Follow any on-screen instructions provided by the tool to rectify the problem.

Operating System Compatibility:

  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated. Sometimes compatibility issues arise from outdated operating systems conflicting with printer drivers.

Firewall and Security Software:

  • Sometimes security programs block certain components of printer software. Ensure that your firewall or security settings aren’t preventing the printer driver from functioning correctly.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
