Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting an "ink system failure" error message, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Reset the printer

Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  3. Wait 60 seconds.

  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

    NOTE:

HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

  5. Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges

Make sure the cartridges are seated properly in the carriage.

  1. Turn on the printer, and then open the door or lid to the cartridge access area.

  2. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. Push the ink cartridge to remove it, and then push it into its slot until it snaps into place.

    Removing and reinserting the cartridge

  4. Repeat these steps to remove and reinsert the other cartridges.

  5. Close the door or lid to the cartridge access area.
