I have an office jet and needed to get more ink. I ordered some on Amazon but didn’t realize it wasn’t HP and the printer didn’t accept it. I bought HP ink and it still says the Cyan ink is missing or damaged and shows as empty even with the brand new ink cartridge. What can be done to fix it?

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve the error message on your printer regarding a missing cartridge. Select the "Cartridges missing or damaged" section and look at the instructions for cartridge type 2.

If the standard troubleshooting did not resolve the issue I would suggest contacting HP for a replacement cartridge, they have a warranty. See Section 3 of the troubleshooting guide:
Replace the problem cartridge
Installing a new cartridge usually resolves cartridge errors.
Obtain a replacement cartridge.
Printer is enrolled in Instant Ink. Replacement cartridges are part of your subscription. If you have another Instant Ink cartridge on hand, install it. Otherwise, contact HP Instant Ink support for a new cartridge.
Printer is NOT enrolled in Instant Ink and the cartridge is within warranty. You may be eligible for a replacement cartridge from HP. Launch our Virtual Assistant to start the process (U.S., U.K., Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland only), or Contact HP Customer Support (all other countries/regions).
Printer is NOT enrolled in Instant Ink. Go to the HP Store or a local retailer to find and purchase compatible supplies. HP recommends genuine HP cartridges.

I have already purchased a new HP ink cartridge and that did absolutely nothing to help the situation. I absolutely hate these ridiculous new printers that can’t work properly with out all this technology! It makes them absolutely worthless waste of space! I appreciate your time to try to help as a volunteer! It just frustrates me that with all the money I have spent on hp I’m going to have to pay some ridiculous amount just so I can have some customer service. I am going to just switch brands because I’m done with HP! Thank you again for volunteering to help!

If the cartridge is defective and in warranty it would not cost to get a replacement. Did you follow the steps in the link I gave above?

What is the warranty status for your printer? You can check the printer warranty here.
