I received a replacement cartridge 141/142  for M11OWE laser jet printer - existing cartridge was 142A. New cartridge does not work but when reinserted the old 142A did work.

I understand there might be compatibility issues with the replacement cartridge 141/142 in your HP LaserJet M110we printer. 

 

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

 

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure that the replacement cartridge 142A is compatible with your specific printer model. Sometimes, even slight variations in cartridge models can cause compatibility issues.

  • Clean Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the cartridge or within the printer can get dirty or dusty, leading to connectivity issues. Try cleaning the contacts on both the replacement cartridge and the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol.
  • Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve compatibility issues with newer cartridges. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Reinstall Cartridge: Remove the replacement cartridge from the printer and reinstall it, ensuring it is properly seated in the cartridge slot. Make sure you follow the instructions provided by HP for installing cartridges.
