I have a HP OfficeJet 5255 printer that won't print.  I think it needs a new ink cartridge.  How do i remove the existing cartridge?

Hi @Sharon226 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want to know how to remove an ink cartridge from your HP OfficeJet 5255 All-in-One Printer,

follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your printer is turned on.
  2. Open the cartridge access door. It's usually located on the front of the printer. The printer carriage will move to the center, allowing access to the cartridges.
  3. Wait for the printer to become idle and silent before you proceed further.
  4. Identify the cartridge that needs to be replaced. Each cartridge slot is labeled with a corresponding color (e.g., black, cyan, magenta, yellow).
  5. Press down gently on the top of the cartridge that needs to be removed to release it from its slot. You should hear a click sound indicating that the cartridge has been released.
  6. Carefully pull the cartridge out of its slot towards you. Handle it with care to avoid any ink spills.
  7. Set the used cartridge aside for proper disposal or recycling.
  8. If you're installing a new cartridge, remove it from its packaging and remove any protective tape or plastic before inserting it into the printer.
  9. Insert the new cartridge into the corresponding slot, making sure it's firmly seated.
  10. Press down on the cartridge until it clicks into place.
  11. Close the cartridge access door.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
