HP DeskJet 2130 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I bought an HP DeskJet 2130 All-in-One Printer in Philippines for my daughter to use. But she requested her aunt for inks since she will be doing a lot of documents for school purposes and her aunt gladly bought her cartridges, problem is that the cartridges were bought abroad in the middle east where her aunt works. We just found out that the same model uses different ink codes depending on the area. So we have a lot of 123XL cartridges but cannot use because our printer accepts 63.

Is there a way we could do to make the 123XL cartridges that we have compatible with our current printer. It will be a huge waste if we could not use them.

Hi @TenPoint7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with using ink cartridges that were purchased in another country for your Printer.

The only way for those ink cartridges to work is by doing a regional reset to the country where the ink cartridges were purchased from and the printer will be reset to middle east as the country.

Later after consuming all the ink cartridges you have from middle east and if you wish to use the ink cartridges from philippines. You will have to perform regional reset again to philippines as the new region.

If you wish to perform a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:

Which country did you move from and to?

Do you have the ink cartridges for both regions?

Do you have a printer USB cable or is it connected wirelessly?

Do you have the printer full feature software or the HP smart app and drivers installed on your PC?

If you meet the above conditions then let me know the following details:

1) The operating system of your PC, is it Windows or Mac?

2) Confirm the printer model.

Note: Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

Thank you for your reply @Irwin6.

Yup no worries about resetting back to 63, we will not be needing that. Since her aunt only goes home once a year, we have enough stock of 123XL to last until next time. And we will be using the same moving forward.

PC is running on Windows 10 64 bit and printer model is HP DeskJet 2130 All-in-One Printer series.

Hi @TenPoint7,

Thank you for sharing the above information.

Please install the previous country ink cartridges and perform the steps given below.

If your computer is connected to the printer with a USB or wireless connection, you can open the Set New Regions window with HP Smart by following these steps.

1) Open the HP Smart app.

2) On the Home screen, click gear icon.

3) Click About, press and hold Ctrl + Shift, and then right-click on the HP Smart logo.

The region reset screen opens.

4) Take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in a private message.

@Irwin6, is the "install the previous country ink cartridges" a must? We have already disposed of the old cartridges as we thought they are already useless since they're already empty 😅.
