Filled the yellow Tank with blue ink on a 7602 Smart Tank printer, any way I can correct my mistake. It's a new printer and have not run ink through tubes yet. Am I screwed?

Hello @Hawkeyecd ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

It's concerning when ink is placed in the wrong tank, but there might be steps you can take to rectify the situation, especially if you haven’t run the ink through the tubes yet. Here are some steps and tips that you may find helpful:

  1. Do Not Run the Printer: Since you haven't run the ink through the printer yet, avoid turning it on or initiating any processes that would circulate the ink.

  2. Remove Excess Ink: If possible, carefully remove any excess ink from the wrong tank using a syringe or a turkey baster carefully without contaminating other parts of the printer.

  3. Clean the Tank: If you can remove most of the incorrect ink, use a soft paper towel or cloth to wipe away the remnants. Ensure the tank is dry and clean before refilling with the correct color ink.

  4. Consult HP Support: Since this is a slightly more complex issue and could potentially affect the printer warranty or functioning, it would be wise to reach out to HP Customer Support for guidance tailored to your specific situation. They might provide a specific cleaning procedure or offer solutions like a service exchange.

  5. Possible Ink Contamination: Be aware that if the incorrect ink has already mixed with the tank's residue or other parts of the printer, full resolution might require professional support or part replacement.

Always handle printer ink and components with care to avoid spills and staining. If unsure or uncomfortable with these steps, professional support from HP would be the best course of action.

Hope this helps!
