This is beyond frustrating!! Brand new 63 ink cartridge (also almost a brand new printer and brand new Macbook Air) I bought from Best Buy is not working. It gives errors saying it's incompatible. So now what??

Hi @miuccia,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating situation with your HP DeskJet 3637 printer and the new HP 63 black ink cartridge. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue.
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Verify that the ink cartridge you bought is indeed the correct model for your HP DeskJet 3637 printer. Sometimes, packaging can be misleading, and it's worth double-checking.
Inspect the Cartridge:
- Make sure there's no tape or packaging left on the cartridge.
- Check for any visible damage to the cartridge.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Reinstall the cartridge.
Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door.
- Gently remove the cartridge and inspect the copper-colored contacts.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently wipe the contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates on the HP website or through the HP Smart app on your MacBook Air.
Try Another Cartridge:
- If possible, try using another HP 63 cartridge (preferably from a different batch) to see if the issue persists.
Printer Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
