I just replaced the black ink cartridge with a new original HP cartridge. When I print a page (including the test page), I can hear the printer working, but no ink is delivered to the paper. The new cartridge is an HP Instant Ink replacement cartridge. When I reinstall the old cartridge, it prints normally, but with poor quality.

It sounds like there might be an issue with the ink cartridge or printhead. Here are some steps to help resolve this issue:
Check the Ink Cartridge Installation
- Turn off the printer and open the ink cartridge access door.
- Remove the new ink cartridge and ensure there's no protective tape left on the cartridge.
- Reinsert the cartridge correctly, ensuring it snaps into place properly.
Perform a Printhead Cleaning
- Turn on the printer and ensure it is connected to your computer.
- On the printer control panel, touch the right arrow button to access the menu, then select Setup.
- Touch Tools and then select Clean Printhead. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Align the Printhead
- Load letter or A4 plain white paper into the main input tray.
- On the printer control panel, touch the right arrow button and then touch Setup.
- Touch Tools and then select Align Printer. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Check Ink Levels
- On the printer control panel, swipe down the dashboard and tap the Ink icon.
- Verify the ink level of the new cartridge. Even though it is new, there might be a problem with it reporting correctly.
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the internal sensors.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
