New HP ink #61 not recognized by HP Jet printer 1510 serial number #, or by my older HP DeskJet 1050 All in one J410 series printer serial number #[edited], both of which use HP Ink #61. The cartridge warranty date is 2027/01/03. How can I get a replacement when your "virtual assistant" and customer service doesn't recognize the serial number??

FYI: I already tried to reset the printers. I already performed a cleaning. I have used the same HP ink #61 since purchasing both printers. I haven't moved so don't need a regional change.

I'd like to get a replacement of what seems to be a defective ink cartridge still under warranty.

@AlsoPissedOff, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP DeskJet 1510 or HP DeskJet 1050 All-in-One J410 series printer is not recognizing the new HP Ink #61 cartridge, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can perform:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you are using are genuine HP #61 cartridges, as non-HP or incorrectly packaged cartridges might not be recognized by the printer. Also, verify that the cartridges are not expired.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Open the printer cover and gently remove the cartridge.
  • Reinsert the cartridge, making sure it clicks into place.
  • Close the printer cover and reconnect the power cord.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Remove the cartridge and use a lint-free cloth to gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
  • Be careful not to touch the contacts with your fingers as oils can cause recognition problems.

Update or Reinstall Printer Software: Sometimes, outdated or corrupt drivers can cause issues. Visit the HP Support website to check for any updated drivers or software for your printer model.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

If you have followed these steps and the issue persists, it might be helpful to try a new cartridge.

I recommend reaching out to the point of purchase where you bought the ink cartridges. They should be able to assist you with either a replacement or troubleshooting further if there’s an issue with the ink itself.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
