HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 11

New $330.00 Smart Tank 6001 December 2023 Suggestions or Requests

1.  Information window is 2" x 1/4" - too small, is unlighted, impossible to see any information.

2.  6 control buttons are grey just like the grey surrounding them so impossible to read their functions.

3.  4 grey buttons are debossed with icon information so impossible to read their functions.

4.  The set-up prompts offer "choose or find printer" and every time I searched for my 6000 Tank series I get my old printer 8600 which is 10 miles away and 3040 printer which is my family's printer which is upstairs.

After 6 tries I deleted each one (8600 & 3040 ) but continued to get 8600 and 3040 in the search but never HP Smart Tank 6001.   SO impossible to set-up 6001 wireless because the HP 6001 is not a choice.  I called HP Support-Chat and got Harry who took control of my computer and 6001 printer for 95 minutes working to get me Wireless but NO WAY SO Harry got me USB wired from computer to printer using the combination of the traditional USB connect-end to the computer and a special USB-B type CAB from Best Buy (Small 1/4" x 1/4" square to fit the stupid receptacle on the back of the 6001 Tank Printer.)    So I am now 6001 Tank (USB hard wired) printing after 6 hours on Friday and 5 hours on Saturday plus the 90 minutes with Harry.  BUT why would HP put a stupid USB_B_ CAB plug on the 6001 Tank Printer which only 1out of 6 Best Buy Computer-employees  knew about and where the USB-B-CAB cable was in the store.

5.  Dear Mr. Hewlett and Mr. Packard after 80 years you can design and manufacture a $330 printer so much better.

Hi @koxx ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you've faced with the HP Smart Tank 6001 All-In-One printer. It's frustrating when the user experience is not optimal, especially after investing in a new device. While I can't directly address your concerns,

If you're experiencing issues with connecting your printer to Wi-Fi and printing on Microsoft Windows 11, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:

Connecting to Wi-Fi:

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is working properly and that other devices can connect to it.

Printer Placement:

  • Make sure that the printer is within the range of your Wi-Fi router.

Wi-Fi Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the settings or network menu.
  • Look for the Wi-Fi or wireless setup option and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This can help resolve connectivity issues.

Printing Issues:

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure that there are no error messages on the printer's display indicating any issues with ink cartridges, paper jams, or other hardware problems.

Default Printer:

  • Confirm that the HP Smart Tank 6001 is set as the default printer on your Windows 11 computer.
    • Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners" and select your HP printer as the default.

Printer Software Installation:

  • Make sure that you have installed the latest drivers and software for your HP Smart Tank 6001 printer. You can download the latest drivers from the official HP website.

Print Queue:

  • Check the print queue for any stuck or pending print jobs. Cancel any pending print jobs and try printing again.

Restart the Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off the printer and your computer. Turn them back on after a minute, and then try printing again.

Check for Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 operating system is up to date. Updates may include fixes for printing issues.

Firewall/Antivirus:

  • Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and check if you can print.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the printer drivers, restart your computer, and then reinstall the latest drivers from the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
