Hi @jtb10
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble with your HP Tank 7600 printer not printing color, even though all the cartridges are showing as full. Let's troubleshoot the issue and see if we can get the color printing working again!
Step 1: Check the Ink Cartridges
Even though the cartridges show as full, they might still be improperly installed or there could be an issue with the cartridge itself.
- Re-seat the Cartridges: Turn off the printer and open the ink compartment. Carefully remove each cartridge, and then reinsert it, making sure it's securely in place.
- Inspect for Leaks or Blockages: Make sure there’s no visible ink spill, clog, or damage to the cartridges or the printhead.
- Clean the Printhead: Sometimes the printhead can get clogged, especially with color ink. If your printer allows, try cleaning the printhead either via the printer settings or manually. Refer to your printer manual for specific instructions on how to clean it.
Step 2: Check Printer Settings on macOS
Sometimes the print settings may be set to print only in black and white (grayscale), which could explain why you're not getting any color prints.
Open Printer Preferences:
- On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP Tank 7600 from the list of printers.
- Click on Options & Supplies, then go to the Driver tab.
Set to Color:
- If you’re printing from an app like Preview or Pages, before clicking Print, go to the print settings.
- Ensure that under the Color option, it is set to Color and not Grayscale.
Check Paper Settings: Sometimes, the printer may be set to print in grayscale based on paper settings (e.g., black-and-white photo paper). Ensure you're using the correct paper type in the print dialog.
Step 3: Update Printer Drivers
Outdated or corrupted printer drivers might be causing the issue.
- Check for Driver Updates:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your HP printer, and click Options & Supplies.
- Go to the Driver tab to see if there’s an update available, or visit HP's Support Page to download the latest drivers for macOS 14.5.
- You can also use the HP Smart app (available from the Mac App Store) to manage and update your printer settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
