HP6458: I replaced the black cartridge with a new HP67 cartridge, but now the black will not print. I have unplugged the unit, and se-seated the cartridges. I have run printhead alignment and cleaning, but no success.

Hi @Tomh1105,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with printer issues like this, especially after you've already tried several troubleshooting steps. Here are a few additional suggestions you can try to resolve the issue with your HP6400 not printing black even after replacing the cartridge:
Check Cartridge Vents: HP ink cartridges have small vents that can sometimes get clogged. Check the top of the cartridge to see if the vent is clogged. If it is, use a pin to carefully clean the vent.
Deep Cleaning: If the regular cleaning cycles haven't worked, try running a deep cleaning cycle if your printer model supports it. This uses more ink but can sometimes resolve stubborn clog issues.
Update Printer Firmware: Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve compatibility issues with cartridges. Check the HP website for any firmware updates for your printer model.
Check Cartridge Contacts: Make sure that the contacts on the cartridge and the printer are clean and not damaged. You can clean the contacts gently with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
Try a Different Cartridge: It's possible the new cartridge is defective. If you have another new black cartridge, try installing that one to see if the issue persists.
Reset the Printer: A full reset of the printer can sometimes resolve lingering issues. This often involves disconnecting the printer entirely from power for a few minutes.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
