HP Officejet Pro 6978

Hi I have an office jetpro 6978. I bought a new cartridge and the printer is not printing meaning the pages are coming out white. I changed the cartridge with the new one but the same thing happens I did everything that the customer support asked me to do... reset,  clean the printer,  clean the ports aligned cartridges heads I did everything that I could possibly do but still nothing new. Do you guys have any solutions for this?

Hi @Ekanta,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your HP Officejet Pro 6978 printer not printing despite replacing the cartridge and performing troubleshooting steps. Here are some additional steps you can try:

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridge is properly installed. Remove it and reseat it firmly into the printer, making sure it clicks securely into place.
  • Verify Cartridge Authenticity: Confirm that the new cartridge is genuine and compatible with your printer model. Counterfeit or incompatible cartridges may cause printing issues.
  • Run Print Quality Diagnostic: Many printers have a built-in diagnostic tool that can help identify and resolve print quality issues. Check your printer's user manual or HP's website for instructions on running a print-quality diagnostic test.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes firmware updates include fixes for printing issues.
  • Check Ink Levels: Make sure the new cartridge has sufficient ink levels. Sometimes cartridges may appear to be full but are empty or defective.
  • Try a Different Cartridge: If possible, try another new cartridge to rule out the possibility of a defective cartridge.
  • Print a Test Page: Use your printer's control panel to print a test page. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer hardware or software.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
