Hi @Beth52679,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2677 printer is encountering issues with cartridge recognition and Wi-Fi Direct errors, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:

1. Cartridge Not Recognized:

  1. Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed in their respective slots. Remove and reinsert them to ensure a secure connection.
  2. Use Genuine Cartridges: Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges that are compatible with your printer model. Third-party or refilled cartridges may not be recognized properly.
  3. Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord. Carefully remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely before reinstalling.
  4. Reset Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on. Check if the cartridges are recognized now.

2. Wi-Fi Direct Error:

  1. Restart Printer and Device: Turn off the printer and any device connected to it via Wi-Fi Direct. Wait for a few minutes, then turn them back on.
  2. Reset Wi-Fi Direct Settings: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi Direct settings. Reset the Wi-Fi Direct settings to factory defaults and set up the connection again.
  3. Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download/install any available updates.
  4. Check Network Settings: Ensure that your printer and the device you're trying to connect to are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Verify that the Wi-Fi signal strength is strong and stable.
  5. Forget Wi-Fi Direct Network: On your device, forget the Wi-Fi Direct network associated with the printer. Reconnect to the network and try connecting again.
  6. Reinstall Printer Driver: Uninstall the printer driver from your device and reinstall it. Ensure that you download the latest driver from the HP website for your specific printer model and operating system version.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
