HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer

I have just cancelled my HP connected subscription and have replaced the cartridges purchased under the scheme to replace them with new HP 301 cartridges purchased from another retailer.  I'm now getting a message saying the cartridges are not intended for use in my printer.

Hi @DaiTuba,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your new ink cartridge in your HP Envy 4507 printer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure that the ink cartridge you purchased is compatible with your HP Envy 4507 printer. HP printers often require specific cartridge models, so make sure you have the correct cartridge for your printer model.
  • Remove and Reinstall: Sometimes, cartridges may not be seated properly. Turn off the printer, open the cartridge access door, and carefully remove the new cartridge. Then, reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place.
  • Clean Contacts: The metal contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer can get dirty or covered with ink residue, which can interfere with proper communication. Gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly dampened with distilled water. Allow them to dry before reinstalling the cartridge.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about a minute. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear out minor issues.
  • Check for Error Messages: Check the printer's display or your computer for any error messages or notifications related to the ink cartridge. This might provide more specific information about the problem.
  • Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve cartridge issues.
  • Try Another Cartridge: If you have another compatible ink cartridge, try installing it to see if the problem persists. This can help determine whether the issue is with the cartridge itself or the printer.

Remember to handle ink cartridges carefully, and avoid touching the nozzles or electrical contacts with your fingers as this can cause issues with print quality and communication.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
