i have a similar problem. I do not have instant ink account but bought all new HP cartridges and installed them. When I try to print in black only, it goes through the motions as if printing but the paper is blank when it comes out. If I print in the color mode, the black prints fine. When running the maintenance tool aligning printhead, the colors are fine but no black whatsoever on the page. I cleaned the print head once and attempted to clean again and the error says it was unsuccessful and to go to HP support. Has anyone ever had such a thing happen?

I understand the printer is not printing in black. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.
Have you tried using an alternate black ink cartridge?
Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues
Clean the printhead twice and print a test report to check the result.
If the issue persists, I'm afraid this is an issue with the printhead of the printer. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.
You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.
