Hi @2424228

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Let’s walk through clear steps to get the color cartridge working properly on your HP DeskJet 2855E. Please follow each step carefully:

Check Cartridge Installation

  • Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
  • Ensure the color cartridge is firmly seated in its slot. It should click into place without being loose.
  • Close the access door securely.

Verify Protective Tape

  • Remove the cartridge and check if the orange protective tape is still covering the copper contacts or ink nozzles.
  • If present, gently peel it off. Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles.

Clean Electrical Contacts

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
  • Allow them to dry completely before reinstalling.

Run Alignment from HP App

  • On your Windows computer, open the HP App.
  • Select your printer, then go to Printer Settings > Maintenance > Align Cartridges.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete alignment.

Print a Diagnostic Page

  • In the HP App, go to Printer Settings > Reports > Print Quality Report.
  • Review the page for missing colors or streaks. This helps confirm if the cartridge is functioning correctly.

Check Ink Levels

  • In the HP App, select your printer and check the estimated ink levels.
  • If the color cartridge shows empty or very low, it may not print correctly.

Update Printer Firmware

  • In the HP App, go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Firmware Update.
  • Install any available updates to ensure optimal performance.

By following these steps, you can identify whether the issue is due to installation, contact cleanliness, alignment, or ink levels.
