I have just bought a HP Deskjet 2800e All in One printer. Whilst trying to set it up it is giving me a E0 error code unusable cartridge despite using the cartridges that came with the printer

Hi @Barrie17,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
The E0 error on your HP printer typically indicates an issue with the ink cartridges, such as improper installation or a communication problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:
Step 1: Check Ink Cartridge Installation
- Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the printer's access door and carefully remove both ink cartridges.
- Check for any protective tape that might still be on the cartridges and remove it.
- Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they click into place securely.
Step 2: Clean Cartridge Contacts
- Clean Contacts:
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the copper contacts on both the ink cartridges and the printer's cartridge holder. Make sure they are free from dust, ink residue, or any other obstruction.
Step 3: Check for Firmware Updates
- Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP Support website.
Step 4: Perform a Printer Reset
- Reset Printer:
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Step 5: Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This tool can help diagnose and fix printing issues.
Step 6: Try Different Cartridges
- Test with Different Cartridges:
- If you have access to another set of cartridges (either new or known to be working), try installing them to see if the issue persists.
You may also refer to this document for further assistance.
If you still encounter the E0 error after trying these steps, there may be a more significant issue with the printer. Contact HP Support for further assistance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
