Dear community!

My HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus and another Officejet Pro 8610 refuses to work for a while.

Therefore I have a lot of ink cartridges in the printer and also not installed and I'm asking me, if HP offers currently a printer which uses the HP 950/951 ink cartridges?

If yes, can I reuse the already installed cartridges in my new printer?

Thank you

Hi @AntonB2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you have a lot of HP 950/951 ink cartridges from your old OfficeJet Pro printers, and you’re wondering if there is a current HP printer that uses them and whether you can reuse those cartridges. Let’s go through a few key points to check what could be causing this and what your options are.

Older OfficeJet models use HP 950/951 ink
Printers like HP OfficeJet Pro 8600, 8610, 8620, 8630, and similar used these cartridges and are known to work with HP 950 and 951 cartridges.

HP has mostly stopped making new printers that use 950/951
These cartridges were common on older OfficeJet Pro models, but HP no longer sells new printers that use HP 950/951 cartridges.

Your existing 950/951 cartridges may still be usable
If you buy or keep an older compatible model from the list above (8600, 8610, 8620 series), you can continue using your existing HP 950/951 cartridges in that printer.
However, new HP printers generally use newer cartridge series with different numbers (e.g., 910, 952, 962).

Be aware of cartridge communication
Ink cartridges contain a chip that the printer uses to check ink status. Some older cartridges must match exactly to the older printer model to work reliably.

Alternatives if you want a new printer
Modern HP printers, including the HP Smart Tank 525 All‑in‑One Printer, HP Smart Tank 580 All‑in‑One Printer, HP Printer All in One Smart Tank 750 MFP, and HP Smart Tank 790 WiFi Duplexer All‑in‑One Printer use ink tanks instead of cartridges and are designed for low-cost printing, but they do not accept HP 950/951 cartridges.

I hope this helps.
